Carrier Table (Commission Schedules)

Carrier Tables (also known as Commission Schedules) are the mathematical engines of Commission Tracker. They define exactly how much revenue your agency expects to receive for a specific product.

These tables are utilized during Receiving Payments, Importing Carrier Statements, and Carrier Reconciliation to identify underpayments or missing commissions.

Supported Table Types

Commission Tracker supports four distinct calculation methods to match various carrier contracts. You only need to create these tables once; you can then attach the correct table to each new policy you create.

Table Type Commission Basis Description
Flat % of Premium Commission is a consistent flat percentage of the premium.
Graded % of Accumulated Premium Same as Flat, except the % paid changes as the accumulated premium increases.
Scheduled Fixed Dollar Amount A set dollar amount is paid regardless of the premium or the number of members.
Pay Per Subscriber Dollar Per Member A dollar amount is paid for each member (PPS) in the group.

Why Use Carrier Tables?

  1. Automated Auditing: By defining your contract rates, the software automatically flags whenever a carrier pays you less than what was promised.
  2. Efficiency: Once a table is created, it can be linked to any Policy to automate all future commission math.
  3. Accurate Projections: Enables the system to calculate your "Expected" commission vs. the "Actual" commission received.

Alternatives to Carrier Tables

You are not required to create Carrier Tables if you do not wish Commission Tracker to calculate your Expected Commission. If you only want to pay agents and are not tracking carrier underpayments, you have two alternatives:

  • Zero Expectation: Set the Carrier Table field to "System - None". This results in an expected commission of zero.
  • Manual Override: Use the Commission Per Term field. This allows you to manually enter the total commission you expect to receive, bypassing the automated table calculation entirely.

Note

Carrier Tables determine the Agency's revenue from the provider. To define how that revenue is split among your staff, you must also configure Carrier Table Agent Splits.
