Renewing Policies
Commission Tracker tracks the entire lifecycle of a policy through the Policy Terms list. Each time a policy is renewed, a new term is created with its own independent Payment History and commission data, so every year of the policy's life is stored separately.

💡 Why Use This
Renewing policies in Commission Tracker is important for:
- Maintaining accurate payment history — Each term tracks its own commissions independently, so you can report on any prior year without data bleeding between terms.
- Triggering the next billing cycle — Payments for the new policy year cannot post until a new term exists.
- Preserving agent split history — Splits from prior terms remain unchanged; you can adjust the new term's splits without affecting historical records.
Never Overwrite Old Term Dates
Do not change the dates on an existing term to "renew" it. Always create a new term using one of the methods below. Overwriting dates corrupts historical payment records and report data.
Renewal Methods
Choose the method that best fits your workflow:
- Manually Renew a Policy — Renew a single policy from the Policy screen.
- Renew Policies (by Carrier) — Batch-renew all policies for a specific carrier.
- AutoRenew Policies — Automatically renew policies as they approach expiration each time the software starts.
